Bavarian Booze Bash at Bruckenwirt Beer Garden – Munich, Germany

Our second beer garden of the day was Brückenwirt, which lies on the banks of the gorgeous Isar River.

We only intended to have a single beer each here (using our buy-one-get-one-free coupon), but ended up meeting some awesome Bavarians who invited us to their table and started buying us drinks when they realized we were Americans! Then the owners of Brückenwirt started buying us drinks! We drank a lot of interesting/weird liqueurs that we never would have tried otherwise, including Grappa, some sort of pear schnapps, Enzian flower root liqueur, and another root liqueur called Bärwurz. By the end of the afternoon, we literally stumbled out of the place. Luckily we had a long walk and train ride before reaching the next beer garden (WaWi), a walk which Agent M has no recollection of.

Thanks so much to our gracious and welcoming hosts at Brückenwirt for showing us such a great time.

While in Munich, we made a point to go to as many authentic beer gardens as possible, which often meant traveling outside of the tourist areas via public transportation. “The Beer Drinker’s Guide to Munich” by Larry Hawthorne was indispensable in helping us figure out which beer gardens were worth going to, and in showing us exactly how to get to them. Plus, it has coupons for free beer!!!
